Volume Blowout Routine at Home

A salon-quality blowout at home is 100% achievable. The secret isn't a fancy dryer — it's the right technique and the right tools. Here's the exact routine for big, bouncy, voluminous hair.

What You Need

  • A volumizing shampoo and lightweight conditioner
  • A round brush
  • A blow dryer with a concentrator nozzle
  • A volumizing product (mousse or spray)
  • Sectioning clips

The Volume Blowout Routine

Step 1: Wash With a Volumizing Shampoo

Start with the Philip Kingsley Brilliant Body & Volume Gift Set — volumizing shampoo, conditioner, hair plumping cream, and deep conditioning mask. The shampoo lifts and adds body while the lightweight conditioner conditions without weighing hair down.

Step 2: Apply Volumizing Product to Damp Hair

On towel-dried hair, apply a volumizing mousse or spray from roots to ends. Focus on the roots — this is where volume lives. The Boldify Hair Thickening Spray is a stylist-recommended volume booster — spray at the roots and work through to ends before blow drying.

Step 3: Rough Dry to 70%

Flip hair upside down and rough dry with your fingers until hair is about 70% dry. This builds volume at the roots before you even pick up a brush.

Step 4: Section and Blow Dry With a Round Brush

Divide hair into 4–6 sections. Working one section at a time, wrap hair around the round brush and blow dry from roots to ends, rolling the brush under as you go. The AIMIKE Nano Ion Ceramic Round Brush (1.7 inch barrel) uses thermal ceramic technology for maximum volume and shine — professional results at home.

For thick or long hair, the AIMIKE Large Round Brush (2.1 inch barrel) covers more hair per pass and creates big, voluminous waves with every section.

Step 5: Blast With Cool Air

After each section, blast with cool air while the brush is still in the hair. This sets the volume and keeps it in place all day.

Step 6: Finish Upside Down

Flip hair upside down, shake at the roots, and finish with a light-hold spray. Flip back up and style as desired.

Volume Blowout Tips

  • Always blow dry in the direction of the cuticle — root to tip
  • The bigger the round brush barrel, the bigger the wave
  • Don't rush — slow, controlled drying = more volume
  • Finish with cool air to lock in the shape

Big, bouncy blowout hair. At home. Every time.
